Grounding with my Sisters: reflecting on the Black Women's Movement.

This afternoon event will reflect on the past, present and future of the black woman's movement. Drawing inspiration from the Black Cultural Archives' oral history project to record the testomnies of women involved in OWAAD ( organisation of Women of African and Asian Desent) and the other Black Women's groups across the country, this event will explore the history and legacy of the Black Women's Movement in the UK.
It will also be the first opportunity to see the exhibition The Heart of the Race: Oral Histories of the Black Women's Movement.

This exhibition will explore campaigns and successes of the Black Woman's Movement in the 1970s and 1980s. Based on the Black Cultural Archives' ground breaking oral history project to document the activists and campaigns, the exhibition will look at the often hideen histories of grassroots activists, groups and campaigns in their own words.
